Class SummaryCOMPUTER AIDED DRAFTING 1
Instructor: Tim Shea Room 303 Email: [email protected] (best option) Phone: 973-228-1200 x 821 This is an entry-level course in which students will be introduced to the AutoCAD 2015 program. Through the first half of the school year, students will become familiar with the CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) program and the many commands and procedures that can be used to create drawings. Students will work on creating drawing on nearly a daily basis and may have quizzes weekly or every other week. Quizzes may test vocabulary or command meanings but for the most part will concentrate on re-creating drawings. The second half of the school year will emphasize three dimensional drawing commands and techniques as students are taught 3 view and isometric drawings which will challenge them spatially. Towards the end of the course, they will begin to learn about the basics of architectural and engineering drawings and how they are done and used in the real world. A final exam will provide assessment of the student’s complete knowledge of the subject over the course of the school year. This course is designed for students considering careers in an architectural or engineering field and hopes to encourage them to take additional, more advanced classes. Students will do the majority of their work in the classroom. Because of the size of the AutoCAD program, it cannot be loaded on the students’ Chromebooks and the students must use the desktop PCs in the classroom. Therefore, there will be very little homework for this class with the exception of some non-Inventor related assignments. Upon successful completion of this class, students will be able to:
